Sustainability

INTEGRA + Sustainability

INTEGRA Planning and Landscape Architecture have always prided ourselves on providing sustainable solutions to all of our projects. Even before Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED), Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), and ReScape California (formerly Bay-Friendly Landscapes), Ric & Mike understood the importance of incorporating sustainable practices in their design. Whether it was water-conserving plants, more efficient irrigation systems, or proper soil preparation, sustainability was at the forefront of our decision-making. So, when LEED, MWELO, and ReScape California came around, INTEGRA+ already had the tools to apply these sustainable practices.

As sustainable practices have grown and evolved, INTEGRA+ has also expanded its knowledge and practices. Ric and Mike have both been involved in multiple LEED Certified projects throughout their careers and have provided valuable insight and design solutions to meet and exceed the LEED requirements. They have also been involved with the MWELO regulations from its conception, including participating in the review of the AB 1881 (2006) update of the Water Conservation in Landscape Act and area currently reviewing the new (2021) MWELO Guidebook for stakeholders.

In addition, Ric is highly active in Rescape California, which is a non-profit organization that educates and advocates for a holistic approach to landscapes. ReScape California’s landscaping practices are based on 8 regenerative principles which Foster Soil Health, Sequester Carbon, Conserve Water and Protect Habitat and Valuable Resources while Reducing Waste and Preventing Pollution in our Communities and Watersheds. INTEGRA+ is currently working on two LEED and Rescape California Certified projects and looks forward to many more.

Through ReScape California, Ric J. Hendricks is a Qualified Landscape Design Professional, Certified ReScape Rater, and Qualified Resilient Regenerative Firescaping Professional and would be thrilled to provide our sustainability expertise on your project.

Through the Irrigation Association, the leading membership organization for irrigation equipment and system manufacturers, dealers, distributors, designers, consultants, contractors and end-users, Mike is certified as a Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA). Mike is qualified to audit irrigation systems throughout the United States to ensure the maximum efficiency and functionality of the irrigation system.

Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditors develop system testing strategies, check the pressure and flow rates, and conduct water application distribution tests. They collect data to determine irrigation uniformity and efficiency. They take soil samples and determine soil types and root zone depths. Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditors observe system operations, locate irrigation zones, prepare site audit maps and visually identify broken or misaligned equipment. They can also summarize data from field tests and may use this information to generate monthly irrigation base schedules. They may provide this information to Certified Landscape Irrigation Managers or Certified Irrigation Designers to make recommendations for changes. Through the audit, the CLIA can identify ways to make sure that the irrigation system is the most efficient for the environment.

Through Irrigation auditing and landscape management strategies, Ric and Mike will bring sustainability and efficiency to your project.
