Within the Theater District of the City of Petaluma, this multi-family development used modern architecture, street furniture palette, and planting scheme reinforce the downtown area master plan. Alongside the City of Petaluma Site Plan Architectural Review Committee (SPARC), the developer and consultants coordinated with surrounding developments, City staff, and area residents to provide this downtown area with a fabulous project.
With City staff, we determined street furnishings including streetlights, benches, fencing, mailboxes, and more. Streetscape planting palettes coincide with future area development and complement existing streetscape while other projects are in review by the city. Celsius 44, with its proximity to the proposed Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) train station and rejuvenated downtown Petaluma, has benefitted the Theater District. Following the developers’ goal of a “green,” sustainable investment in the community, this project has been a winner in different categories of statewide development competitions.
