Creekside Elementary School, a 10-acre facility that opened its doors to 450 students in 2009, was the last of five schools to be built by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

As the lead landscape architect for the brand new school, Ric was given the responsibility of creating an outdoor environment that that would promote the school’s vision of “…developing a community of learners where staff, parents, and students achieve academic excellence through high expectations.” The same standard was held for the consultant design team.

Working closely with the project architect, Quattrocchi Kwok Architects, Ric collaborated on the campus master plan and detailed the site amenities including sports facilities, play structures, lawn areas, amphitheater, hardscape and landscaping. Interesting, colorful and durable materials were chosen for the hardscape and landscape, with thoughtful placement of site features in order to create a safe environment that could accommodate a wide range of user groups.
