Lafayette Mercantile is a 2 and 3 story office and commercial building over structured parking, in downtown Lafayette. This project is in an urban setting, along Downtown Lafayette’s Mt. Diablo Boulevard. The landscape utilized all of the land and streetscape frontage, and includes rooftop plazas over the underground parking structure. Through coordination with the architect and structural engineer, we included numerous large planters, pots, and a water feature within the breezeway. As part of another firm, Michael Cook completed all landscape design, planting, irrigation and lighting. We coordinated irrigation and drainage with the structural engineer to ensure the penetrations into the ceiling slab did not conflict with structural framing.
This project was a public-private partnership with the City of Lafayette and the developer. SZFM Architecture was a team member and completed architectural designs. We sent a dilapidated site into a thriving multi-tenant, multi-use building, now celebrating the City of Lafayette.
